Imagine being able to enjoy a lunch or dinner in a unique place that reflects the architecture, evolution and history of Vejer de la Frontera. The restaurant El Jardín del Califa takes its inspiration from the time when the Arabs ruled this villa more than 700 years ago and, with its different environments, will allow you to experience a special and unique evening.
It is located in an old granary from the XVI century, in a beautiful garden full of palm trees and in it you will be able to enjoy an excellent sample of the best North African and Middle Eastern gastronomy in one of the most beautiful corners of the old sector of Vejer.
This “little trip in time” offered by the Caliph’s Garden (El Jardín del Califa), allows you to eat in the “Aljibe”, the interior of a water well built in the Islamic era of Vejer that archaeologists date between the X-XI century. Or enjoy the “Temple“, the interior dining room of the premises, exquisitely decorated and whose construction dates back to 1527.
But without a doubt, the most magical corner of the restaurant is located in the Garden that gives it its name and the Pergola located on the side of it. The tables of this locale are all made in Marrakech in the style of Gueliz, with finely cut pieces of pottery and on summer evenings it becomes a unique place to enjoy magical evenings.
The restaurant menu offers excellent mezze, salads, soups and creams that you can accompany with some of the specialties of the house (pastry, Magluba, different recipes of lamb), different Tagines (lamb, chicken, veal, vegetables), fish dishes, couscous and an excellent selection of grilled meats.
A special mention should be made of the restaurant’s extraordinary wine cellar and its delicious homemade desserts, pastry and cakes made with organic products, perfect to end an evening accompanied by a tea.
The restaurant is part of Grupo Califa, which owns several establishments in the locality, preserving in all of them the highest standards of quality and service, a hallmark of the company. Among them, they recommend the hotel La Casa del Califa, La Tetería del Califa, Corredera 55, and Califa Tapas.
Without doubt a unique experience to enjoy the art of good food in Vejer de la Frontera.
