The Palacio de Araníbar (Palace of Aranibar), from the 17th century, preserves a remarkable coffered ceiling of Moorish origin with geometric shapes. It is one of the best examples of Houses belonging to the so called Chargers to the Indies.

The Captain Juan de Araníbar Alberro, born in San Sebastian and of Navarrese origin, arrived in the Puerto de Santa Maria as a groom of the Duke of Medinaceli. He was one of the most prominent traders and alderman of the city.
