In the archaeological site “Hornos Punicos of Torrealta” in San Fernando is where the remains of two major pottery workshops associated with the city of Gadir are displayed: the pottery from the late-Punic era of Torre Alta and the Phoenician furnaces from Sector III of Camposoto.
This reflects the age of the village as a settlement and the important industry that took place in what is known as Isla de León. The food industry was very important and leveraged the exploitation of the marine resources of the area, creating preserves and sauces such as the mythical garum.
