The Convent of the Conceptionist Nuns, that we can visit in Vejer de la Frontera, is all that remains of the original ensemble founded by Juan Amaya in the mid-16th century to serve as his and his wife`s own mausoleum.

The portal of the church is in the Renaissance style. Next to it is the most emblematic street of the city, the so called Arch of the Nuns, consisting of a series of buttresses supporting the lateral wall, placed as a result of the earthquake that struck the town in the 18th century.

Today the building houses the Municipal Museum of Customs and Traditions of Vejer.
