The Fountain of San García, located in the Centenarian Park in Algeciras, it is a valuable example of defensive architecture from the 18th century.

The presence of the constant danger that caused the military base of Gibraltar and the attacks from the Turkish, the Barbary pirates, from the English, the Dutch and the French, led to the proliferation of defensive buildings at the Bay.

Coinciding with World War II an artillery and illumination project of the Strait of Gibraltar was conducted. The area was filled with armored gun positions, war nests, foxholes and command bunkers to address a hypothetical Allied attack from the British colony, many of which are still visitable today.
