The Nuestra Señora del Carmen Church is the oldest temple that has reached our days left in San Fernando and it is dedicated to the patron saint of the city.
It was built between the 17th and 18th centuries and combines Baroque and Neoclassical styles. Several special events including some sessions of the Cortes of Cadiz have been held here and here the municipality was awarded its current title of City in the year 1813.
