The Central Market of Rota from 1928, is distributed around a central arcaded courtyard and originally had stalls selling meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, etc. as well as coffee stalls and municipal and veterinary inspection.

In 1962 it was extended with a second floor and in 2008 made the reopening of the cloister-yard public market after a complete restoration, giving it a conventual air according to the history of the place in which it stands the site of the former convent of the Merced.
