Parque Genovés – Jardín botánico
The Parque Genovés (Genovese Park) is the largest green area of the old town. In the middle of the19th century a large wooded park was created, called “De las Delicias”, which ended in a garden and at the end of the century, the Mayor Eduardo Genoese undertook the definitive refurbishment, consolidating its appearance and layout which it still retains.
It has interesting species from diverse origins, making it a true botanical garden, and hosts a collection of small monuments among which are those raised in honor of José Celestino Mutis and José María Pemán and the popular fountain of the Niños del Paraguas. Another of the highlighted places is the La Gruta, a lake with a waterfall where several species of birds live.
