Ermita Santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Santos
Esta ermita es una casa de oración que se ha convertido en el hogar de todos los habitantes de Alcalá de los Gazules. El actual santuario es del siglo XVII, aunque su origen se sitúa tres siglos antes.
Iglesia de San Francisco
It is popularly known as the Victoria Church. It was part of the Convent founded by Minim friars following its establishment in Alcalá de los Gazules in the 17th century.
En su interior destaca la imagen de Jesús Nazareno, obra de José de Montes de Oca.
Museo Etnográfico de Alcalá
In this Museum there are on display typical customs and objects that existed in the Alcala de los Gazules area and in the Natural Park of the Alcornocales since several decades ago.
Los Pozos, Alcalá de los Gazules
They are several wells of Arabic origin and are a good example of the architecture of Alcalá de los Gazules. They receive the following names: the high well, the middle well and the lower well.
Yacimiento Romano de la Mesa del Esparragal
This site is a settlement of Phoenician and Roman origin. There the “Bronze Lascuta” was found, a relic from the year 189 B.C. considered the oldest document in Latin in Spain.
It’s situated on the river Barbate, next to the now existing bridge, where some remains are left of it.
Iglesia Mayor Parroquial de San Jorge
This Church was built on a Muslim mosque. The present church has a Latin cross plan and was built during the 16th and 18th centuries. It has pieces of great value.
Depósitos y Fuente Romanos de la Salada
Recently excavated and of Roman origin, they were built to take advantage of a spring that appeared unexpectedly from the rock. Dated back to the 2nd century B.C., the set consists of reservoirs, triumphal arches and the foundation of a temple which has not reached our days.
Restos del castillo y murallas musulmanas
They are located near the San Jorge Square, occupying what was the courtyard of the castle. Of the fortress only a tower remains, because the rest was blown up during the War of Independence. You can also visit the Puerta de la Villa.
