Trebujena

"Trebujena, at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, is located in a spectacular and diverse natural environment. On the one hand, the hills are covered with vineyards and on the other, the Doñana marshes on the horizon. Its sunset convinced Steven Spielberg to shoot here the film Empire of the Sun"

The village is noteworthy for its whiteness and for its long, open streets, the liveliest is the Calle Larga. The Plaza Mayor is the hub of the city, where all important events are held and it’s Baroque Church of the Purísima Concepción (17th-18th century), the Puerta del Perdón and valuable Cristo de la Misericordia (13th century) of the Juan de Mesa School. Almost nothing remains of the original castle, just some paintings and battlements that can be seen if we get close to the old food market. And the Chapel of Nuestra Señora de Palomares also houses the patron saint, the Christ of Veracruz (15th or 16th century).
Trebujena is registered within the wine cathegory of wines of Jerez-Xérès-Sherry and Manzanilla of Sanlúcar and is famous for its musts (mosto), which should be drunk accompanied with their tasty shrimp or their famous eels.
The wetlands located in their towns lands, have become a privileged area for birdlife and one of the most important in Andalusia.
