Iglesia Parroquial de Santa María de Guadalupe, Algar
The Parish Church of Santa María de Guadalupe is the most important religious monument of Algar. From the 18th century, its construction is closely linked to the founder of the town, Mr. Domingo López de Carvajal, believing that the Virgin had saved his life on the return trip from Mexican soil.
It is a rectangular building with a main facade that combines neoclassical and baroque elements. Inside it has carvings of great cultural value. Highlighted are the main altarpiece and the statue of the holder, guarded by the side chapels dedicated to San Jose and the Immaculada Concepcion.
