Culture in Chipiona
Faro de Chipiona
There is evidence of the existence of the Chipiona Lighthouse since the Roman times. The current lighthouse was built between 1863 and 1867, is considered the highest lighthouse in Spain (69 meters) and one of biggest in the world.
Santuario de la Virgen de Regla
The present temple was built in the early 20th century, after the demolition of the old church. In the Neo-Gothic style, it opened two years after starting the works and three later they ended the construction of the main tower.
Mausoleo de Rocio Jurado
This monument was inaugurated on the 18th of September, 2007, coinciding with the birthday of the artist; you can visit the monument in the Cemetery of San José.
Castillo de Chipiona
Perched on a rock very near to the Cruz del Mar beach, it was built to protect the fish weirs that were at the waterfront.
Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la O, Chipiona
It is a beautiful temple in the Gothic style built in the 16th century. It is believed that it was formerly an Arabic mosque and that under it lays the remains of these. The current appearance of the Church is the result of reforms that took place at the end of the 18th century.
