Alcala del Valle

"Alcala Del Valle is a beautiful town that does not forget its Arabic origin, with whitewashed houses and flower-filled balconies. Its rich cuisine and its unique traditions, such as the Carrerita San Juan at Easter (Easter run), give it a special character. And its location between Málaga and Cádiz makes it a good starting point for a lot of activities. "

Its archaeological jewels are the Tomillo Dolmens, with a unique megalithic menhir (standing stone) in the province, located in a beautiful natural setting. The present town was founded in the 15th century by Muslim residents of the nearby Setenil de las Bodegas.
Among its main monuments are the Baroque church of Santa Maria del Valle, el Cortijo de la Caceria (the hunting farmhouse)(16th century) with the appearance of a Palace and the Hermitage of the Cristo de la Misericordia. Water is the main natural resource of this white town, it is present in all its artistic manifestations; proof of this are the old Franciscan Convent of Caños Santos and the Fuente Grande.
