Arcos de la Frontera

"Arcos de la Frontera is the gateway to the Route of the White Villages. Arcos is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, it retains a well-preserved historical site. "

There are traces of the first prehistoric and Roman settlers at the Sierra de Aznar Site, but the city owes its stamp and current layout to the Muslim culture.
Through very narrow, steep streets and under ancient arches, the visitor approaches its old town, declared a historic center, where monumental gems such as the Castle of the Dukes (15th century) the Puerta de Matrera (11th-14th century) and the remains of the city walls, palaces and manor houses, the Basilica of St. Maria, the San Pedro Church, as well as numerous churches, chapels and convents.
These buildings are home to valuable images that at Semana Santa (Easter) parade through the streets of the town on a holiday that has been declared of National Tourist Interest.
Another point of interest to visitors is the Arcos Lake, which is located a few kilometers from the town and offers the possibility of different water sports. The tail of this reservoir has been declared a Natural reserve.
