Beaches in Cadiz
The province of Cádiz is known worldwide for the quality of its beaches, The coast of Cádiz is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, almost entirely, and by the Mediterranean Sea in a smaller area.
An extension of more than 250 km, where you will find more than 80 different beaches (coves, large beaches, inlets …), each with different properties but which share qualities, such as a privileged climatology throughout the whole year, clear and clean waters, sands maintained, good accesses and a high level of services.
Beaches to enjoy with the family, to play with the little ones, to practice the best active tourism or to use the magnificent transportation services to pay visits to nearby towns, to the great natural parks existing within the province, to historical sites or, simply, to travel. The natural monuments of some of these beaches such as dunes and fish corrals offer opportunities to go fishing and underwater fishing in transparent waters or windsurfing, kitesurfing … among many other activities.

Playa de El Rompidillo / El ChorrilloRota
The golden sand beaches are about 1.5 km long. Both have a promenade and average capacity. On the beach Rompidillo watersports are allowed due to its width.
Playa de Cañillos / BoteroBarbate
It´s located between Barbate and Zahara. It is a sand beach with beautiful views.
It is perfect for water sports or hiking and it is close to the wetland from Barbate River.
Playa de Bajo de Guía / La Media LeguaSanlúcar de Barrameda
It´s about 1 km long and is located opposite of the old fishing district, where you find the best and most popular restaurants today. Here you can try the best seafood and fish. City beach, with beach promenade, fine, white sand, average utilization and moderate swell. Services are offered.
Playa de la HaciendaLa Línea de la Concepción
La Playa de la Hacienda, de gran extensión y arena gris, carece de servicios y tiene como característica destacable la gran tranquilidad que reina en la zona.
Playa de Levante – La LineaLa Línea de la Concepción
It has a length of about 2 km and is located across the street from Las barriadas de San Bernardo. City beach with dark sand of medium grain size, high utilization and moderate swell. There are services available and allows water sports.
Playa del MontijoChipiona
It´s about 2 km long and is located on the outskirts of the city in the direction to Sanlucar de Barrameda. Adjacent town beach with a mix of sand and gravel, with a low number of visitors and medium waves.
Playa de Torrecarbonera / El BalnearioSan Roque
It has a slightly length of 1.3 km and is located in a natural environment. Lonely beach, no promenade, dark sand, average occupancy and moderate swell. It offeres some services.
Playa de los LancesTarifa
It´s the most complete city beach in Tarifa. It is perfect for swimming. Spend a day at the beach when the wind allows.
It is easily accessible from the city center.
Playa de la ReglaChipiona
It´s about 1km long and is considered the reference of the village. Golden sand, large capacity, good service and family atmosphere among its properties. Some bars and restaurants to make your stay enjoyable. It may also contain various things such as Renting pedal boats.
Playa del Cabrero / Cala Taraje / Cala SardinaSan Roque
It has a length of about 1 km and is located on the outskirts of Torreguardiaro. Lonely beach, virgin, no promenade, dark sand and calm waters. It offered some services. It has a wide access road where RVs are parking usually.
Playa de La Calzada / Piletas / La Media LeguaSanlúcar de Barrameda
It´s about 2 km long and is located in the village. Every year the famous horse races are held since 1845. City beach with beach promenade, fine, golden sand and moderate swell. Services available.
Playa de GuadarranqueSan Roque
It´s more or less 0.5 km long. It is situated in the Barriada de Guadarranque area on the outskirts of Algeciras. Industrial area and slightly unkempt surroundings. Urban beach with promenade, golden sand, high utilization and calm water. It offeres some services.
Playa de la BallenaRota
The service is very good here. Firstly, due to a high number of visitors, especially in summer and on the other hand many poeple have a second residence here. The wind makes it perfect for windsurfing, sailing, surfing …
Playa del Río San PedroPuerto Real
It has a length of 1.6 km and is in the district of Rio San Pedro. It’s just next to the beach Playa de Levante in El Puerto de Santa María. Urban beach with promenade, golden sand, low utilization and moderate swell. Strong currents make it sometimes a bit dangerous.
Playa de Zahara de los AtunesBarbate
It extends along the city, after which it is named, and extends to the Cabo de Plata where it becomes the beach Atlanterra.
Crystal clear water, fine sand. You can make beautiful walks and enjoy the sunsets in an urban and natural environment.
Cala del AceiteConil de la Frontera
It´s a little paradise with fine sand mixed with turquoise water. It is a good alternative when strong winds are blowing, since it is protected by cliffs. In summer, a bar is opened and there are a few services offered. The cove is reached by a staircase.
Playa de la JaraSanlúcar de Barrameda
It has a length of 1.5 km and is located next to the river Gualquivir. Urban beach, no promenade, golden sand, average utilization and calm water.
Playa de las CanterasChipiona
“It´s of small size (about 500 meters) and is located next to the lighthouse of the city.
Urban, rocky, with medium to high number of visitors and good service. It is not recommended for swimming, but perfect for diving and surfing.”
Playa de la CachuchaPuerto Real
It has a length of 350 m and is located in the village itself, next to City Hall and between two protective breakwaters. Urban beach with promenade, golden sand, average utilization and calm sea. It offeres some services.
Playa de ValdelagranaEl Puerto de Santa María
It has a length of almost 2 km. Urban beach of golden sand, promenade, high utilization and with gentle waves. It has very good services. Quite a good number of bars and restaurants.
Playa de PonienteLa Línea de la Concepción
It has a length of less than 1 km and is located in the Bay of Algeciras. Urban beach, promenade, dark sand of medium grain size, high utilization and low swell. Services are offered, and suitable for water sports.
Playa de Cruz del MarChipiona
It´s slightly shorter than 1 km and is in the town, on the south side of the harbor. A beach with thick, golden sand with a very high number of visitors. It provides excellent service.
Playa de Piedras Gordas / La AlmadrabaRota
The utilization is rather low. Fine golden sand dunes and pine forests give it a natural character and it´s protected by the Junta de Andalucía.
Playa de TorreguadiaroSan Roque
It´s slightly longer then 1.3 km and is located in a fishing area, luxury apartments and Sotogrande Harbor. Urban beach with promenade, dark sand with small gravel, high utilization and moderate swell. Services available.
Playa de FuentebravíaEl Puerto de Santa María
It has a length of about 700 meters and is located in a residential area (El Manantial and Fuentebravía). Urban beach without Promenade, with fine golden sand, high utilization and moderate swell. A good service is offered and you can go fishing and windsurfing.
Playa de los BatelesConil de la Frontera
It has a length of about 1 km and is located at the foot of the city.
Urban beach of fine golden sand and crystal clear water, high utilization and moderate swell. Perfect for sunbathing, eating a few tapas and enjoying a great day.
Playa del Camarón / Tres PiedrasChipiona
“It has a length of over 1.5 km and end up in the beach Playa de Regla. Urban, fine golden sand, with an average utilization and a moderate swell. There are many protected areas and indigenous vegetation. There you can practice all kinds of sports.
Calas de Poniente (Calas de Roche)Conil de la Frontera
It´s formed by small coves of exceptional beauty and small size in the northern coast of Conil de la Frontera.
There are 6: Cala Encendida, Aspero Cala Cala Tio Juan Media, Cala Pato Cala Cala Medina y Frailecillo.
Playa de SotograndeSan Roque
It´s about 2 km long and is located in the exclusive area of Sotogrande. Urban beach, no promenade, dark sand, high utilization and moderate swell. There are services and the opportunity to do sports are given.
Playa de la VictoriaCádiz
It´s probably the most beautiful in the new town. Between the Santa María del Mar and Cortadura beaches you can stroll on the beach promenade and enjoy a drink in one of the cafes or bars, or enjoy a great meal in one of the good restaurants.
Playa de PalmonesLos Barrios
It is located in a popular area of Los Barrios. You can find here a good selection of bars and restaurants. The dispersal of industries may be a bit daunting, but you will find a quiet sea in front and you can eat well.
Playa de CamposotoSan Fernando
It has a length of 4 km and is located in the Natural Park Bahia de Cadiz. Lonely beach without promenade, with golden sand, average utilization and moderate to strong waves, depending on the day. Services available.
Playa de ValdevaquerosTarifa
It is a mecca for lovers of windsurfing and kite surf.
The secluded, large beach offers good service, good restaurants and bars and accommodation.
Playa de la FontanillaConil de la Frontera
It´s without doubt one of the best beaches in this place, with a length of more then 1 km.
Semi-urban beach with fine sand and crystal clear water, beach promenade, high utilization, usually with moderate wind. Here you will find some of the best hotels and restaurants in Conil.
Playa de CastilnovoConil de la Frontera
It´s near the beach Playa del Palmar. A lonely beach, untouched, wild golden sand, low utilization, without Promenade, medium waves. No available services. Very quiet beach, frequented by nudists.
It is a small bay between the port and not far from the Isla de Tarifa, where you can enjoy beautiful views.
In order to enjoy a swim, we encourage you to visit this beach on days without wind.
Playa de AtlanterraTarifa
It´s located on the edge of the town of Tarifa.
Perfectly equipped with restaurants, hotels and bars of highest quality. Prepare yourself for one of the most spectacular sunsets that you have seen in your life before. Clear water and golden sand.
Playa de los AlemanesTarifa
It´s located near the luxurious district Atlanterra and between the bays Cabos de la Plata and Cabo de Gracia. This beach is one of our weaknesses in the province.
Calas del Quinto y CamachoConil de la Frontera
It has a length of about 600 meters and are about three kilometers from Conil, after the beach Fuente del Gallo to north. It’s a composition of several small bays such as Cala Melchor, Cala Cala Pitones y Sudario.
Playa del CañueloTarifa
It is one of the best kept treasures of the province of Cadiz. This cove, untouched and in a natural environment of incredible beauty, has the clearest water of the coast of Cadiz.
Playa del CastilloSan Fernando
It covers nearly 2 km, located in the natural park of Sancti Petri and is the sequel to the beach Camposoto. Lonely beach, no promenade, golden sand, low utilization and moderate swell. It has some services.
Playa de la BarrosaChiclana de la Frontera
It has an approximate length of 6 km. Here you will find 2 things in one. The first section has a beach promenade with cafes and restaurants and other services. The second, known as Torre del Puerco, is more natural and surrounded by some hotels.
Playa de Nuestra Señora del CarmenBarbate
It´s located near the fishing port of the city.
It is a well-equipped and quiet beach, prefect for swimming and enjoying a nice bath.
Playa de Punta CandorRota
It has a length of over 1.5 km and an average number of visitors. The waves are rather moderate and the beach is characterized by its fine, golden sand dunes. An area of the beach is reserved for nudists beach.
Playa de El ChinarralAlgeciras
It lies between the cliffs of Punta de San García and Punta del Rodeo. Near the Port of Algeciras, in the local port facilities located the yacht club “Saladilla”.
Playa de CortaduraCádiz
It is the only one in the category “natural untreated beaches.” It stretches along the road linking Cadiz with San Fernando.
Playa de Santa Catalina – El Puerto de Santa MaríaEl Puerto de Santa María
It has a length of 3 km and is located next to the districts Vistahermosa (the beach is called like this by the locals). Urban beach of golden sand and moderate waves. There is a good service offered and water sports and fishing are allowed.

Urban beach with dark sand, high utilization and moderate swell.
There are a number of services offered and here you can also practice water sports.

It is surrounded by mountains and abundant vegetation. It has several services that make it very comfortable. A little advice: Just next to the access, on the main street, there is a little restaurant (family business) where they serve a good menu to a good price.
Playa de la CalitaEl Puerto de Santa María
It has a length of slightly more than 0.5 kilometers and is located between the beaches Playa de la Muralla and Playa de Santa Catalina. Urban beach with fine sand and a few rocks, no promenade, with average utilization and small waves. Good service. Allows diving and fishing.
Playa de las Mujeres (Santa María del Mar)Cádiz
It is a cozy and pleasant beach near the old town. It is situated between two breakwaters, which make it a quiet and nice beach. The view of the old town and the Cadiz Cathedral is very nice.
Playa de la HierbabuenaBarbate
It´s a small paradise at the foot of the Natural Park of La Brena and the marismas of Barbate.
Between sand dunes, cliffs and pine trees, you can enjoy a great day.
Playa de la CaletaCádiz
It is known for its beauty and is very popular. It’s the only one in the historical district and here you can enjoy all year spectacular sunsets. One of the nicest places in town with good service and everything near by.
Playa de la AtunaraLa Línea de la Concepción
It has a length of 1.5km and is located near the fishing port. Lonely beach with beach promenade, dark sand, average ocupation and moderate swell. Some services are available and you can practice water sports.
Playa de ZahoraBarbate
It´s the continuation of Trafalgar lighthouse, north of the coast of Cadiz.
Between sand dunes and therefore protected from the east winds, it becomes a breathtaking vantage point for sunsets.

It´s probably the best in Algeciras due to its length and the provision of services of various kinds.
It is the most frequented beach by locals.
Playa de la PuntillaEl Puerto de Santa María
It has a length of 1.5 kilometers and is located in an area called Parque Dunas de San Antón (Important pine forest, adjacent to sand dunes) and next to the the river Guadalete. Semi-urban beach with fine sand, with beach promenade, high utilization, often a bit windy, perfect for windsurfing. Good service.
Playa de Levante – El PuertoEl Puerto de Santa María
It´s part of the Bahia de Cadiz Natural Park. It is more than 4 km long, near the residential area Valdelagrana. Secluded beach, without promenade, with golden sand, low utilization and calm sea, but a bit windy sometimes.
Playa de la CostillaRota
It is a urban beach with a high number of visitors and it has a promenade.
It´s length is about one kilometer and the sand is fine and golden. Normally moderate waves. It has a good service.
Playa de Aguadulce / PeginasRota
Fine golden sand, half wild and a low influx of visitors. The waves are medium high and at low tide it is advisable to wear shoes, because of stones.
Cala Milla de PlataSan Roque
It consists of three bays of various shapes and sizes. The cliffs that form this coast, make these bays worth to visit. There are small areas of sandy beaches, but rather rocky.
Playa del PalmarVejer de la Frontera
It is one of our favorite places in the province of Cadiz. It is a very well-equipped, long sandy beach. There you can surf, shop and have fun or eat in the spectacular restaurants. Perfect for relaxing or you will witness one of the most beautiful sunsets.
Playa de BoloniaTarifa
It is a unique place on the coast of Tarifa is one of the most beautiful areas of the province, the dunes of Bologna. White sand and great wind make it a paradise for lovers of water sports, especially windsurfing or kite-surfing.
Playa de la AlcaidesaLa Línea de la Concepción
It has a length of 1.5 km and is in the area of residential district with the same name. City beach with dark sand and moderate swell. Some services are available.
Playa del PuercoConil de la Frontera
It comprises a length of more than 2 km. and is located between Roche and the beach Playa de la Barrosa. It is a semi-urban beach of fine golden sand, but a bit difficult access (hence not advisable for “seniors”) and low number of visitors. There are showers.
Playa de la Fuente del GalloConil de la Frontera
It´s the last one of the long beaches of this village. With a length of 1 km, it is located in the district with the same name. A beach of fine golden sand and clean clear water, with an average occupancy rate and a moderate swell. Suitable for great walks and fishing.
Playa de Santa BárbaraLa Línea de la Concepción
It has a length of 700 m and is located near the ruins of the castle or fortress of Santa Barbara. Urban beach with promenade, dark sand of medium grain size, high capacity and moderate swell. Services are offered, and suitable for water sports.
Playa de Caños de Meca / Faro de TrafalgarBarbate
It´s the most famous one in the province of Cadiz. Their famous bars and pubs in the village and the rock-lined coves contrast with the strip of golden sand. They form the Tombolo of Trafalgar, one of the most beautiful places on the coast of Cadiz.
Crystal clear water, good service and a great environment to enjoy an incredible atmosphere.
Playa de RocheConil de la Frontera
It has a length of 2 km. Urban beach without Promenade, with fine golden sand, clean water, moderate swell. It offers a good level of services and is handicapped accessible.
Playa de Sancti-PetriChiclana de la Frontera
It´s a beautiful beach with a high ecological value. It is separated from La Barrosa beach by the cliffs Farallon de Laja Bermeja, but to reach on foot at low tide.
It’s worth to visit the old fishing village of Sancti Petri.
Playa de la MurallaEl Puerto de Santa María
It has a length of about 300 m. and is located near the Castle of Santa Catalina, between the beach Playa de la Calita and Puerto Sherry. Semi-urban beach of fine golden sand, with an average number of visitors and small waves and some wind. Good service.
